The Salinas Valley Youth Soccer League (SVYSL) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1992 in response to the dire need for youth services in the community. The league currently registers approximately 500 members each season (spring/fall) comprising of youth soccer players ranging from 4 to under 14 years of age.
Our mission and primary goal – To positively enrich the lives of the children and their families in our community, by utilizing the game of soccer to develop, promote, and teach life values and soccer skills. This best describes the role of SVYSL within the community.
We strive to provide every child the opportunity to play soccer. To achieve this, we provide scholarship assistance to families in need. Our scholarship program reduces the cost of registration, and we work with families on payment plans to ensure fees do not become a hardship.
As the number of children participating in our soccer programs increases, so do the technical and tactical level of the players’ game. Approximately, 80% of the children who begin playing soccer with SVYSL continue to play in our programs for many years. We feel it is important to offer a wide range of opportunities to fit the needs and desires of as many children as possible.
We serve a diverse population and in order to make a significant impact on the community, we provide access to a sport that all youth can relate to and share with each other. Soccer is a wonderful physical outlet that, in our community and the world, is a sport that ignites passion.
In order to be successful in its goals SVYSL is looking for financial support from individuals and businesses to cover costs such as purchasing equipment, administration expenses, referee payments, scholarships, clinics for coaches and players and organizing jamborees/tournaments.
We strive to keep the cost of registration affordable to everyone in our community. We ask you to support SVYSL and the service it provides our community and consider becoming one of our Partners.
